Blender Uv Mapping Overlapping. I have modelled a home plant and it consists of 2 separate objects- the leaves and the pot. Assigns new images for every mesh but only one if Shared Tex Space is enabled.
Activating Fill Holes will prevent overlapping from occurring and better represent any holes in the UV regions. See Managing the Layout. The one time you can overlap your UV Map is when using the most common workflow in Blender.

Unwrap from view and pin. Mark a seam on one of the 90 degree face edges select those faces only and unwrap. Assuming you arent going to use a model in a game do you care if a beautifully textured model has overlapping uvs. Though as we saw UV editing can be difficult to work with and needs some time to get used to.
