Using the DirectionFinder class of Google Apps script you get directions between locations from Google Maps. Spreadsheet Mapper is a powerful tool for mapping point locations. You can put the two places in separate cells in a Google Spreadsheet and then use the getDirection function to find the distance between the two place in miles or kilometers. This service does not return detailed route information.
